The Red Lake District Adult Learning Centre offers a
wide variety of learning opportunities, from our Literacy and Basic Skills
program, to special interest sessions, and professional development. We
are also an active partner with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board
and Seven Generations, offering the high credit course programming.
Literacy and Basic Skills
Literacy is necessary for full participation in our
rapidly changing society. It is much more than just being able to
read and write. It is about using the different forms of
communication that give us further opportunities in our society – for
ourselves, our families, and our communities.
Our Literacy and Basic Skills program runs Monday -
Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00. Our services are always free and confidential.
This program uses two formats, one-on-one teaching as
well as small group settings, where learners work together on common
goals. Based on skills and knowledge, an individual learning plan is
created for each of our learners. Some areas that are focused on
include digital technology, healthy living, budgeting and money management,
problem solving, and other life skills. This program will also prepare you
for success when entering our Secondary School Credit Course program.
If your goal is a Grade 12
diploma, we can guide you toward that goal. If you are looking
to improve your employability, we will help you work towards that goal. We
can also help you prepare for an Apprenticeship. We are approachable
and dedicated to make things interesting for you – we would like to see
everyone reach their full potential.
Secondary School Credit Courses
In partnership with the Keewatin-Patricia District
School Board and Seven Generations, we are pleased to facilitate credit
courses. There will never be a better time than right now to complete
your high school education. Do it for the respect you’ll earn and the
career that can be yours. But most of all, do it for yourself.
You’re closer than you think.
You are never too old to participate!
